僕にとっての永遠。本作は言わずもがな、『The Beatles - Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band』『The Who - Tommy』等に並ぶ、世界で最も有名な“コンセプトアルバム”のひとつ。「アルバム」という概念の存在意義を、これ以上明確に示した作品は他に無いだろう。
僕がどのような音楽ジャンルもアルバム単位で鑑賞する理由は、全て本作に詰まっている。究極的に言うと、本作は僕自身の中の「“音楽鑑賞”の定義」自体を司っているのだ。
僕が今後の人生で例えどれだけの音楽を聴こうと、『Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of The Moon』の音自体に飽きてしまおうと、決してこの順位は覆らない。僕が自分/他人の創作物と向き合う限り、僕自身の中に刻み込まれたこのレコードが再生されてしまうから。
音楽の分野のみに限らず、本作のような“自分の中で生き続ける何か”を、生きているうちに可能な限り多く見つけたいものだ……。まずは20代のうちに、また新たに一つか二つ。
